Hi guys, welcome to Flex TV. My name is Hope, and I will be answering all of your storage-related questions. Today’s question comes to us from Helen, and Helen wants to know, how do storage units keep mice out? And that’s a really good question, it’s really important to a lot of us. Obviously, when we entrust our belongings at a storage facility, we want to get it back safe and clean, that’s definitely paramount. You don’t want any mice getting inside or any pests at all. So Helen, basically there are different ways for keeping mice out and we have to do our part as consumers to really make sure that we’re putting our belongings in the right place. So how do we do that? There are three things that you want to keep in mind before you move your things into a storage facility. So one is the actual integrity of the construction. Whether it be a facility, it could be multi-leveled or a single level, whether it’s a portable storage unit, you want to make sure that your unit is totally sealed. Preferably, personally, I recommend that you go for an insulated unit that nothing can come in, nothing can leave, and then you can be more confident about your stuff staying safe. So that’s the first thing, just making sure that there’s integrity there. The second thing you want to check out, definitely before moving your things in, is the pest control policy at the location where you’re going to store your things. Now, whether it’s a facility where they have periodic pest control or whether it’s a portable storage unit, you want to ask if they fumigate between renters, if they clean it out, to make sure that you’re not putting all your stuff in somewhere that’s already infested with pests. The third thing you really want to pay attention to is cleanliness and general maintenance. Now, if you go to a facility and it looks cleaned and well-maintained and like someone’s been paying attention and taking care of it, you know that there’s a higher probability that they’re going to notice if there’s any kind of pest control and take care of it right away. Obviously if you go to a facility and you see that it’s not clean, there’s trash everywhere, it’s probably not very well-maintained and that’s going to reflect on their pest control policy as well. So pay attention. So in conclusion, you have to check for three things to be sure that you avoid pests as best you can when moving your things into a storage facility. Number one, you want to check the integrity of the storage unit where your stuff is kept. Number two, you want to check the pest control policy. And number three, general cleanliness and maintenance matter. So pay attention. Helen, I hope I answered your question.
