Today I got a question from Joseph who wants to know, can I set up automatic payments for my storage unit? Well, that’s a really good question. A lot of us don’t want to have to bother every month calling the facility, giving them payment details and doing this, remembering to do it on time. So automatic payments are a really good option for a lot of us, maybe even most of us. So Joseph, the answer is yes. most storage facilities will even prefer if you set up automatic payments so that they don’t have to make sure and chase you every month. There are several ways to do this and this depends also on the storage facility and also on your available funds. The first is using a credit card. This is maybe the simplest option. You simply give your credit card details to the storage facility and they will charge it automatically on a monthly basis when it’s billing time. The second option is to set up an automatic withdrawal by providing your bank details, such as your bank account and routing number, you will receive several forms you will have to fill in and sign and then the facility will be able to take the funds automatically from your account every month when it’s billing time. Now even though this is very convenient and kind of a hands-off approach, I really do recommend checking the bills on a monthly basis just to make sure, review it, and see that you’re being charged the amount that you’re supposed to be charged, that there are no surprise charges, that there are no human errors, because these things do happen. So you want to make sure that you’re being charged correctly. In conclusion, Joseph, yes, it’s very simple to set up automatic payments with a storage facility. Simply call your rep and ask about the payment options, or you can review the payment options on the company website and see what they are and what works best for you. Remember to check your bills every month to make sure that you’re being charged correctly, you don’t want to be overcharged for your storage, that would really suck.
