How many storage containers will I need for my five-bedroom house? Now sometimes you know that you’re gonna need to move or you’re gonna need to store the entire contents of your home for any given reason and of course the first thing you want to know is what kind of container do I even need? how much space do i need to rent in order to fit all of my stuff into the container now obviously i’ll start with a normal disclaimer different people have different needs it depends on the different sizes of your home it depends on how much stuff you have how much you like to hoard or how much you’re minimalistic so it really changes depending on who you are but i’m just going to give you a little breakdown of what normally applies to most people so generally when we’re talking about a five-bedroom home, you’re going to need a container of at least about 40 feet. That’s 40 by 8 feet long. So this is all well and good until you learn that most portable storage companies don’t offer 40 feet long containers. They will offer you a 16 foot long by 8. Usually at most, sometimes you can find 18. Rarely you can even find portable storage companies that have a 20-foot long container, but usually this is the size that they offer. So what do you do if you need so much more space? Simply, you get more than one container. So you might need two or even three containers to get all of your stuff inside storage from your home. However, this is all guesswork and to make sure that you know the exact size that you’re going to need, you’re have to be a lot more specific. So I recommend that you make a list of everything you have, count the amount of boxes that you believe you’re going to use or have already packed, and see if you have any irregular, weirdly shaped, really large items, take those into account as well. Once you have that list, all you need to do is consult with an expert. And luckily, when it comes to storage companies, the storage experts are always ready and waiting for you to call and consult them and it’s always free so just call your local portable storage company that you want to use, consult with a rep, tell them exactly what you have, be as detailed and specific as possible and they will let you know what size you need for storage.
