How much does it cost to transport a portable storage unit? Well that’s a really good question Kim. If you have stuff in storage in a portable storage unit and you find yourself moving, obviously you want your stuff to move with you so that it’s nearby and you want to plan your budget accordingly and know how much it’s going to cost you to just transport your stuff from one location to the other. So, when it comes to transportation, everything depends on the distance, and that’s going to determine the price eventually. So I’m going to break it down into local moving versus long distance moving. When it comes to a local move, we’re talking up to 50 or 100 miles, it really depends on what the company has decided to define as local moves. Usually transporting a portable storage unit will cost anywhere from around $80 to around $200 depending on the company, sometimes the size of container, and the distance actually traveled. When it comes to long-distance moves, again, this is calculated by miles and can cost much much more. For instance, having a storage unit delivered from coast to coast can cost anywhere between $2 ,500 and $5 ,000 and that’s just for the move itself. No services included, no packing, no loading, nothing like that. In any of these cases, if you want to use professional movers for loading or packing, be prepared to shell out some extra cash, usually around $1 ,500 to $2 ,500 just for the loading and unloading services. So in short, the price of transporting a portable storage unit from one location to another depends on a lot of things. Most of all, it depends on the distance and the additional services you’re getting. So I really suggest shop around, look for different prices, get different quotes and get whatever fits you best.
